Mbappe expressed his motivation for the current season after helping PSG secure the French Champions Trophy with a 2-0 victory over Toulouse, stating, “I’m very, very, very motivated for this year. It’s very important.” Despite having titles to pursue, Mbappe emphasized that he has not finalized his decision about his future.
Having joined PSG in 2017, Mbappe’s contract was extended for two years with the option of an additional year. However, he informed PSG in June that he would not be exercising the option for the extra 12 months. While there has been speculation about a potential move to Real Madrid, Mbappe emphasized the importance of the agreement made with PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi during the summer.
Despite previous interest from Real Madrid, Mbappe turned down a move in May 2022 and chose to extend his stay with PSG. Barcelona, however, faces financial constraints that prevent them from pursuing players like Mbappe, according to manager Xavi.
