The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 concluded in spectacular fashion, with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) securing their third championship title. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) finished as runners-up, capping off an intense season of cricket. With their victory, KKR earned a hefty prize of INR 20 crore, while SRH took home INR 12.5 crore.
The total prize pool for IPL 2024 was INR 46.5 crore, distributed not only among the winners and runners-up but also to other top-performing teams. The Rajasthan Royals, who secured third place, received INR 7 crore, and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), finishing fourth, were awarded INR 6.5 crore.
Virat Kohli of RCB had a standout season, winning the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs. Kohli amassed 741 runs in 15 matches, with an impressive average of 61.75, including a century and five fifties. His highest score was an unbeaten 113*, and he maintained a strike rate of 154.69, the highest of his IPL career. For his achievement, Kohli received a prize of INR 10 lakh.
The Purple Cap for the highest wicket-taker went to Harshal Patel of Punjab Kings. Patel took 24 wickets in 14 matches, boasting an economy rate of 9.73 and an average of 19.87. He too earned a prize of INR 10 lakh.
Among other notable awards, Sunrisers’ Nitish Kumar Reddy was named the Emerging Player of the Season, while KKR’s veteran spinner Sunil Narine was honored as the Most Valuable Player of the Year. Narine’s consistent performance also saw him winning the Ultimate Fantasy Player of the Season.
