Gautam Gambhir Ends Feud with Virat Kohli After IPL Spat, Reveals Amit Mishra

Veteran Indian cricketer Amit Mishra recently disclosed that it was Gautam Gambhir who took the initiative to end his feud with Virat Kohli following their on-field spat during the Indian Premier League (IPL). The altercation, which occurred during IPL 2023, involved Gambhir, then the mentor for Lucknow Super Giants, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Kohli. The heated exchange also included Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq, leading to penalties for all three involved.

However, IPL 2024 saw a turn of events as Gambhir and Kohli were spotted hugging and having conversations, signaling an end to their rivalry. Speaking on YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra’s show ‘Unplugged,’ Amit Mishra revealed that it was Gambhir who approached Kohli to resolve the situation. 

“I saw a good thing about Gautam. Virat Kohli didn’t go towards him; Gautam went towards him. He went and asked, ‘How are you, how’s your family?’ So it was Gautam who ended the feud and not Kohli,” Mishra shared. “Gautam showed his big heart at that time. It should have been Kohli who should have gone and ended the feud. He should have gone and said, ‘Gauti bhai, let’s end this.'”

Mishra also commented on the changes he has observed in Kohli over time, attributing them to fame and power. “I have seen Virat change a lot. We had almost stopped talking. When you get fame and power, some people think that others are reaching out to them only for a purpose,” Mishra noted. In contrast, he praised Rohit Sharma for remaining unchanged despite his stardom. “I haven’t been part of the Indian team in years. Still, when I meet Rohit during the IPL or any other event, he is always joking with me. I don’t need to think about what he will think.”

As Kohli and Gambhir are set to work together in the Indian cricket team, it will be interesting to see how their relationship evolves. While Kohli has ended his T20I career, he is still expected to continue playing in ODIs and Tests for some time.

This reconciliation between Gambhir and Kohli not only marks a significant personal resolution but also sets a positive example for sportsmanship and professional conduct in cricket.
