The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced its 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM), set to take place in Bengaluru on September 29. Notices were sent to state associations on September 5, with the AGM scheduled to be held at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel. The meeting will coincide with the inauguration of the High Performance Centre in the city.
Interestingly, the AGM agenda notably lacks an expected election for a new board secretary. It had been anticipated that a successor to Jay Shah would be chosen during the AGM, following his election as the independent chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). However, the election for a new secretary will now require a Special General Meeting (SGM), which must be held before Shah officially takes up his ICC role on December 1.
Among the items on the 18-point agenda, one of the key decisions will involve selecting a new BCCI representative for ICC meetings. With Shah stepping down from the BCCI role, the board will need to appoint someone well-versed in international cricket affairs to represent India on the global stage.
This AGM is expected to be a crucial moment for the BCCI as it navigates leadership changes while preparing for future challenges in the cricketing world.
