Barcelona, having initially agreed to sign Roque in the summer of 2024, has now secured permission from La Liga to bring in the young Brazilian in January, as reported by Mundo Deportivo. Roque will join on loan for the remainder of the season before completing a permanent move in the summer. This opportunity arose after teenage midfielder Gavi suffered a long-term knee injury, leading to his deregistration and creating salary space for Roque’s inclusion.
In addition to Roque, Barcelona is exploring the possibility of signing a replacement for Gavi in the January transfer window. However, any such deal is contingent upon Barcelona receiving a financial injection. The club is still anticipating €40 million (£37m/$43m) from the German investment firm Libero, linked to the sale of a stake in Barca Studios.
Currently finishing the Brazilian season with Athletico Paranaense, Roque is poised to embark on his journey with Barcelona, where he will vie for a place in the attack alongside prominent names such as Robert Lewandowski, Joao Felix, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal.
