Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has officially joined the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) as the proud owner of the Mumbai team. The ISPL, India’s innovative tennis ball T10 cricket tournament, is set to kick off its inaugural edition from March 2 to March 9 in Mumbai, featuring six teams – Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Srinagar, in 19 high-intensity matches played inside a stadium.
The ISPL is a groundbreaking tournament designed to offer a platform for players who have honed their skills in the streets and makeshift pitches. The league aims to bridge the gap between street cricket and the professional setup, providing emerging talents with an opportunity to showcase their skills on a global stage.
Amitabh Bachchan, expressing his excitement about this new venture, stated in his personal blog, “A new day… and a new enterprise… For me, an honor and a privilege to be with Mumbai as Team Owner, and to be privy to the surge of talent erupting, for a grand visionary future.” Bachchan praised the ISPL as an exciting and noble concept, enabling players to transition from street cricket to professional teams.
The ISPL has already garnered attention with fellow actors Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan revealed as team owners representing Srinagar and Bengaluru, adding star power to the league’s ownership. As the ISPL gears up for its inaugural edition, cricket enthusiasts anticipate an electrifying blend of talent and entertainment in this unique T10 cricket extravaganza.
