The much-anticipated clash between cricketing rivals India and Pakistan will be the highlight of the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in the USA and the West Indies. According to the released schedule, the marquee fixture is set for June 9 at Eisenhower Park in New York. India will play their first three group matches in New York, with the fourth in Florida.
The tournament, co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, is slated to commence on June 1, featuring the USA facing Canada in Dallas, and will conclude on June 29 with the final in Barbados. The semi-finals are scheduled for June 26 in Guyana and June 27 in Trinidad.
T20 World Cup 2024 Groups:
– Group A: India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, USA
– Group B: England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman
– Group C: New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, Papua New Guinea
– Group D: South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Nepal
The tournament will witness a total of 55 games played across various venues in the West Indies and the USA. Notably, the teams in Group A will be based entirely in the USA for the group stage, while Groups B and C will compete in the West Indies. Group D teams will have matches split between the USA and the West Indies.
India’s group stage fixtures include matches against Pakistan on June 9, Ireland on June 5, USA on June 12, and Canada on June 15. Pakistan will face USA on June 6, Canada on June 11, and Ireland on June 16.
With an expanded format featuring 20 teams, the 2024 T20 World Cup promises an intense competition. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 round, leading to the semi-finals. England, the defending champions, will look to maintain their dominance after defeating Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup final in Melbourne.
