Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been honored as the Premier League Manager of the Season, while Liverpool’s Matt Beard has earned the accolade for the Women’s Super League (WSL) Manager of the Season.
Pep Guardiola, 53, led City to another historic campaign, making them the first English club to secure four consecutive top-flight titles. He triumphed over competitors including Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Aston Villa’s Unai Emery, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola to claim the prestigious prize.
“I want to share it, yes, oh yes! Especially with Mikel for the incredible job he has done until the last game, bringing us to our limits,” Guardiola remarked. “Of course, for Jurgen, for the unforgettable battles for many, many years. And Unai Emery, making something unbelievable again to bring Aston Villa to the Champions League. And Andoni Iraola, with Bournemouth, being his first season in the Premier League, doing what he has done, coming back from the tough start of the season.”
Meanwhile, Beard, 46, guided Liverpool to a remarkable fourth-place finish in the WSL, their highest since clinching the title in 2014. Liverpool ended their season on a high, winning their final four matches, which included victories over champions Chelsea and rivals Manchester United, ensuring they finished above the latter.
“I’m very grateful and very humbled,” Beard expressed. “It’s great to see the work we have done has been recognized. As always, we couldn’t do it without the staff or the players, so this award is not just about me; it’s about the collective. So from that side, it’s great recognition for everyone.”
The Premier League title race was fiercely contested until the final day, with Manchester City securing the championship by defeating West Ham 3-1, finishing two points ahead of second-placed Arsenal. This victory marked City’s sixth title since Guardiola took over in 2016. Phil Foden, another City star, was named Premier League Player of the Season last week.
This latest accolade marks the fifth time Pep Guardiola has been named Manager of the Season, a feat surpassed only by former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who won the award 11 times.
“We will defend this award as best as possible in the future,” Guardiola declared, highlighting his determination to continue leading Manchester City to further successes.
