Rahul Dravid is reportedly in discussions with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the role of mentor in IPL 2024. However, his decision is contingent on discussions with the BCCI, as he may continue as India’s head coach.
Dravid’s term as head coach concluded with the ODI World Cup, where India reached the final but fell short against Australia. The BCCI is expected to engage in talks with Dravid, but an extension seems unlikely as he desires more time with his family. Joining an IPL franchise as a mentor would allow him to balance coaching and family commitments.
LSG, in particular, has expressed interest in Dravid, and if he doesn’t continue as India’s head coach, he may join them. The mentor position at LSG became vacant after Gautam Gambhir’s move to the Kolkata Knight Riders, and Dravid seems to be the leading candidate.
Additionally, he is reportedly in talks with the Rajasthan Royals, a franchise he previously represented as a player and captain. As of now, LSG appears to be the frontrunner for Dravid’s potential mentorship role.
