South Korean footballer Son Jun-ho has been released from detention in China after being held in connection with a bribery case, according to statements from South Korea’s foreign ministry.
The 31-year-old midfielder, who plays in the Chinese Super League for Shandong Taishan, was detained in May 2023 as part of a crackdown on corruption and match-fixing in Chinese football. China’s foreign ministry stated that Son was suspected of accepting bribes.
