In a jaw-dropping display of power-hitting, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) left fans awestruck as they shattered records during their Indian Premier League (IPL) showdown against Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Led by the explosive performances of Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, and Travis Head, SRH smassed a staggering total of 277/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Klaasen’s blistering 80 not out off 34 balls, Sharma’s sensational 63 off 23 balls, and Head’s impressive 62 off 24 balls propelled SRH to rewrite history.
This incredible feat saw them break the 11-year-old record for the highest-ever team total in an IPL innings, previously held by Royal Challengers Bangalore. The record-setting innings of 277/3 surpassed RCB’s 263/5 against now-defunct Pune Warriors India in 2013.
Aiden Markram’s significant contribution with a well-compiled 42 off 28 balls added to the SRH onslaught. Furthermore, Hyderabad set a new record for the highest total at the midway stage of an IPL innings, amassing 148/2 after 10 overs.
The Hyderabad crowd was treated to a spectacle of record-breaking performances as Abhishek Sharma stole the spotlight with his sensational innings. Following an explosive start by SRH opener Travis Head, who blazed his way to a record-setting 18-ball fifty, Sharma continued the onslaught by reaching his fifty in just 16 balls—a new benchmark for the fastest fifty by an Hyderabad batter in the tournament.
Sharma’s onslaught was relentless, as he hammered seven towering sixes and three fours during his whirlwind knock of 63 runs off just 23 balls. The sheer ferocity of SRH’s batting display left spectators in awe and firmly established Hyderabad’s dominance in the IPL arena.
