Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli has made a strategic decision to bypass the white-ball phase in the upcoming South Africa tour, set to kick off on December 10 with three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests.

Kohli communicated his availability for the red-ball cricket starting December 26, as reported by The Indian Express.

 While he takes a break from white-ball cricket, Kohli’s stellar performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, where India secured the runner-up position, remains fresh. With 765 runs in 11 innings at an outstanding average of 95.62, Kohli’s exceptional display included three centuries and six fifties, setting a record for the most fifty-plus scores in a single ODI World Cup edition.

His century against New Zealand in the semi-final marked his historic 50th ODI hundred, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s longstanding record of 49 ODI tons.
